Carlow, Ireland

The team at Walsh Whiskey Distillery were delighted to welcome Kilkenny Whiskey Guild to Royal Oak this week to put down roots at the distillery.

Bernard Walsh and team brought the 10 guild houses together to plant an Evergreen Oak in the grounds of the distillery, in honour of their work in promoting and supporting Irish whiskey.

Members of the Guild, from Billy Byrne’s, Langtons, The Wine Centre, The Dylan Whiskey Bar, Matt the Millers, Lanigans, The Left Bank, The Hibernian Hotel, Paris Texas and Brewery Corner, each took their turn and grabbed a shovel in order to put down roots at the distillery.

The Quercus ilex tree, also known as Holm Oak, was chosen for its year-round foliage, a nod to the Guild’s unending support for the Irish whiskey sector.

Walsh Whiskey Distillery have also unveiled a new barrel programme, with members of the Guild taking delivery of exclusive, co-branded barrels this week. The eye-catching barrels were delivered by Walsh Whiskey Distillery brand ambassador’s Sean Normoyle and Conor Booth, alongside Declan Ryan from Dalcassian Wines and Spirits who works closely with each of the 10 guild houses.

Commenting at the tree planting ceremony, Bernard Walsh, Managing Director, Walsh Whiskey Distillery, said: “We are delighted to have such strong support from Kilkenny Whiskey Guild here at Royal Oak and we look forward to building on that in the future to offer whiskey enthusiasts and customers in Kilkenny a premium experience”.
