Writers Tears Chosen As Coup de Coeur in Le Guide Hachette des Whiskies

Carlow, Ireland

Celebrations abound in France as the Irish Embassy held launch of famous food & drinks journalist Martine Nouet latest offering Le Guide Hachette des Whiskies.

The guide includes 540 tasting-notes including Martine’s favorites or “coups de coeur”, introductory chapters on the history, the making, tasting, pairings of worldwide whiskies. Currently available in French, the guide is expecting to be released as an English version next year.

Walsh Whiskey Distillery were delighted to have Writers Tears brand chosen as Martine’s coup de couer and it is an honour and testament to the quality of the brand as well as to Irish Whiskey.

The Irishman & Writers Tears are in the premium category which is gaining momentum in France in super and hypermarkets. The overall category itself represents 7.2million litres of which Irish whiskey accounts for 600,000 litres and continues to grow with 5% growth last year.

Martine Nouet has been a food and drinks journalist on French national newspapers, written extensively on food and drink internationally, written books on single malt whisky, including the popular “Les routes des Malts” and for 6 years was editor of  “Whisky Magazine France” where she became known as “La Reine de L’Alambic” (Queen of the Still). She is currently a regular contributor to the UK edition.

The night was a great success with the attendance from the industry, bloggers and Journalists. The Walsh Whiskey Distillery brands got great coverage and were loved by all.

Congratulations to Caroline Mullen our representative for Walsh Whiskey Distillery for carrying our ethos so well on the night.  It was a very successful night for Walsh Whiskey as Writers Tears Cask Strength, Martine’s coup de coeur, stole the show with everyone there.
