Market Visits, Masterclasses and More Whiskey!

Carlow, Ireland

I set off on another exciting adventure to the US at the beginning of May. First stop was Washington DC, a state I had never visited before. The sun was splitting the stones which made my market visit all the more enjoyable. My first two days in DC were spent working with our distributors getting our whiskeys, The Irishman and Writers’ Tears, into more liquor stores. On the last day I held a masterclass for our reps in DC. We discussed our range of whiskeys and the Washington DC market. We finished off happy hour with a shot of Baby Guinness – The Irishman Irish Cream Liqueur floating on top of Tia Maria – it went down a treat!

After an exciting Trip to DC I made my way to Boston. I visited many bars across the city and it was great to experience the Irish culture in Boston. Writers’ Tears and The Irishman Single Malt were a huge hit. The following day I held another masterclass for our distributors in Boston this time. It was very engaging and I felt everyone left with a better knowledge on our range of whiskeys. Finally, it was the weekend, and also my birthday so I met up with some friends in the whiskey business in Boston. They sure know how to throw a party!

After the celebrations I travelled to New York for a full week of work. I spent two days with Disaronno Brand Ambassador DeAnna. She showed me around some really cool and fun bars in New York and I held a masterclass in The Copper Pot. Writers’ Tears was known around NYC, many of the bar staff had heard about it from their customers who had tried it on their travels to the Emerald Isle. It’s always great to hear from people who are fans of our whiskey, and to know they are singing it’s praises across the pond! We also visited The Passage Irish Bar where they have The Irishman Founder’s Reserve on tap. Can’t beat a good whiskey tap!

The rest of the week was spent hitting more bars across NYC with distributors. The thunderstorm that hit NYC didn’t stop us! During the week I met back up with DeAnna and Alejandro our US Trade Marketing Manager for a happy hour in The Dead Rabbit. Can’t beat those Irish Coffees! It was a hectic two weeks but we covered a lot of ground and had some fun along the way! The next trip is just around the corner and I’m very excited for this one.
